Diabetes is anything but easy.

No matter when you were diagnosed with diabetes, we understand this was a very difficult experience. It is not anyone’s dream to visit their doctor only to be told “you have diabetes.” Only to be followed by a few small punches including “limit your carb intake, lose 10% of your body weight, and avoid sugar.” Your life changes in an instant.

From there you begin your new life of carb-counting, intolerable finger-pricks, calendars marked full of doctors appointments and total life disruption.

Whether you have Type 1, Type 2, Prediabetes, or Gestational Diabetes, you endure the same frustration and fatigue.

How can we help?

We know that we are not the cure to your diabetes, and maybe we aren’t even the first dietitian you have seen. Diabetes can be complicated and exhausting. It can be difficult to maintain motivation to improve your blood glucose numbers, to hope every 3 to 6 months that your A1c is down, or to correct your meal-time insulin because you ate at a restaurant and weren’t sure of the carb count.

Where are you struggling to remain motivated?

How is your relationship with food since being diagnosed with diabetes?

At Bamboo Nutrition we do not believe in diets. We don’t want to restrict or limit any of your favorite foods, rather, we will help you to understand your body’s needs, enjoy all foods and know how to incorporate them into your meal plan. We want to be your teammate, your support and accountability. For a disease that revolves so much around food, it is important that you don’t lose sight of hope and simplicity. It is possible to enjoy all foods and feel good.

“As a member of your diabetes care team, a diabetes care and education specialist works with you to develop a management plan that fits your lifestyle, beliefs and culture. They’ll help you understand how to use devices like meters, insulin pens, pumps and continuous glucose monitoring devices; and use the information from these devices and your lifestyle to identify patterns and opportunities for improvement. You’ll work together to find solutions to address your most pressing challenges.

Diabetes education provided by a diabetes care and education specialist can help people with all types of diabetes better manage their blood glucose, develop coping skills to address the daily challenges of the disease, reduce the risks for complications, decrease costs by reducing or eliminating the need for medications and emergency room visits, and help find and access cost-savings programs.” (diabeteseducator.org)
