Meet Julia
(She/Her)
Hello! I am Julia Henry. I have been a dietitian since 2015 and received education and training from Missouri State University in Springfield. I also have a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of Arkansas, and I love being able to combine my knowledge of sociology with my nutrition expertise to provide unique care for my clients. My passion is helping people move beyond diets and learn to enjoy food and movement and feel more comfortable in their bodies. I love working with clients who have PCOS and GI concerns such as Crohn’s, colitis, celiac disease, allergies, etc.
To provide effective care to clients, I consistently evaluate my skills and challenges. I strive to always provide weight-inclusive, culturally competent care, and to equip clients with resources to help them advocate for this level of care from all of their providers. My goal is to help people of all ages replace the language of diet culture with that of intuitive eating.
Intuitive eating and the Health at Every Size® approach are very important to me, as they are person-centered and respect each client’s right to be an active participant in their care. I became a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor in February 2024 and use this work a lot with my clients who are interested.
I work with individuals in-person and over video depending on your preference. I am in network with UHC, UMR, Cigna and Aetna. If your insurance is not one that I accept, I can provide you with a superbill for you to submit for reimbursement. For more information, please visit our Rates & Insurance page.

Julia’s Specialties
Julia is a fantastic clinical dietitian. She is very knowledgeable when it comes to chronic conditions and does not shy away from really difficult cases. One exceptional trait of Julia’s is she loves to be considered a partner in her clients’ health journey. It is important to her that you feel heard, understood, and cared for. Julia will go the extra mile to help her clients feel better.
GI conditions such as Crohns Disease, Ulcerative Colitis and Celiac are conditions Julia is very passionate about working with. Although she is more than capable at working with clients who have other system issues as well. Many of Julia’s clients appreciate that she is patient and willing to take the time to investigate and solve difficult problems and mysterious symptoms.
In addition to GI conditions, Julia loves helping individuals with PCOS. Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome is a relatively new condition that affects many women. Many individuals living with PCOS do not have the professional support they need. Julia recognizes this and appreciates being this person for her clients.
Julia’s Nutrition Philosophy
Food is not just food. It is also family, memories, traditions and fun! One of my favorite things to do when I travel is to enjoy the local food and then try to recreate it at home. To me, variety is so important because it helps to feel satisfied while providing the nutrients we need.
Testimonials
I got so much more out of time as a client with Bamboo than I even expected. I came seeking help for a couple specific issues (celiac, chronic migraines), but my dietician Julia was so comprehensive that I ended up coming away with tools in even more areas. What I have learned in my time working with Julia has been life-changing and will certainly impact my health positively for the rest of my life. Julia is evidence-based, detail-oriented, and kind–I could not have asked for a better person to work with.
~ 2022 client
I had a great experience working with Julia. I really felt that she was tailoring our sessions to me and my specific struggles and goals, not just giving me generic talking points. She helped me stop seeing food and eating as the enemy, and I am in a much better place now than when I started.
